A pretty Chinese girl startled the Central Police Court during the hearing of a conspiracy case yesterday, when, on being called to the witness-stand and addressed by the interpreter in Chinese. she turned to the Magistrate. Mr. R. Edwards, and sald in perfect English, "I would prefer to give my evidence in English.".
