SHAOKWAN, Aug. 19.-The stump of the Chinese national dollar does not affect Kwang- kung finance, as cost of living in this province has not risen higher in occupled areas as in Shanghai.

The provincial currency is slightly higher than the na- dollar, whose normal tional value is equivalent "to $1.44 provincial currency. While this. may be attributed to Japanese bay provincial attempts to notes, their stability is due to their limited circulation,

Advices from Bombay indicating an insufficiency of rain and severe drought in" many of the main producing areas, had no effect on this market.
