Toklo, Sept. 18.
In the course of the battle in North China, in the region of the Pelping-Hankow Railway, the Ja- panese appear to have made no substantial progress. A semi-om- 1 cial, communique published here to-day reports that only minor skirmishes had been going on. It is stated, however, that the Ja- panese crossed the Liuli River and drove the Chinese troops: from the right bank.
