DEVALUATION OF THE YEN
London, Sept. 17. Discussing Japan's finances and war effort, the "Financial Times points out that though Japan's previous adventures, coupled with her enormous cutlays on the Army, Navy and Air Force, has seriously weakened her financial structure, It would be premature to conclude is that an early breakdown threatened. Referring to the yen. the journal says its stability is misleading. and the increasingly adverse trade balance, aggravated by the war, has brought the pos- sibility of devaluation to the fore again.
