Silver prices were unchanged yesterday the quotations 'remain- ing at 20 1/4 fór Randy and 30 5/15 for Forward. Silver advices reported India as having bought. Speculators gold. The market closed steady, After the official" fixing there were buyers at the fixed rates. The New York mar- ket was closed yesterday.

The London-New York cross- rate was lower at 492.28.

MARKET

Opened steady but subsequently the market eased off owing to some demand, "The undertone to- wards lunch time was still'inclin- ed to easiness.

STERLING Opened with sellers at 1/2 13/16 but offers at this rate were soon accepted for near delivery follow- ed by transactions for November and December. The market closed at 1 pm. with sellers at 1/2 25/52 June-December, buyers at 1/2 13/16 for any delivery.

US. DOLLARS Opened with sellers at 30 3/8 June-July and 30 5/16 August-Oc- tober leading to business subse- quently at 30 3/8 July, -June and Cash and 30 5/16 for September and August.
