FIRST MATCH The first match was better than the second and. had it not been for J. J. Remedlos, the Colony pali would have lost sooner than they did: Remedios displayed remarkable forehand drives which found the Siamese pair left stand- ing and the shuttlecock going in between them. SUMMING-UP
Mr. Justice Lindsell, in summing- up, said that there was no evidence to the effect that the three, accused went to the deceased's house with Intent to murder the old woman. There was nothing of that sort alleged by the Crown. It was fact that the death of the old woman was not intended. It was proved that the three accused went there with full intention to commit à robbery.

case. His Lordship stated that de- ceased met her death by violence at the hands of someone. There was no evidence whatever about the breaking of deceased's ribs which might have caused her
death. Deceased was alive and was able to walk at the time when the house was entered.
Medical evidence showed that the abrasions have been affected before death, said His Lordship. There can be no doubt of course that deceased had met her death that night. It would be justiflable to say that deceased met her death as a result of injuries set out by someone.

At the conclusion of the matches the Blamese players gave a markable display of their national game of the famous Siamese Ball which is made of rattan with a number of square holes around it. Evidence showed that the object | The audience was held spellbound with which the three accused went to the house of the deceased was to get her money. the Kowloon City Police Station, remarked His Lordship, each prisoner made a statement which told against the other. He reminded the jury to pay particular attention to this that a statement made by an accused person in the presence of another accused person can only be given in evidence against himself ar herself. The Crown case was that the first and second accused combined together to rob the old woman and to use whatever violence was necessary to overcome her rexistance.
- His Lordship told the jury to consider the following three ques- tions very carefully before giving the verdict.
(1) Was deceased's death due to someone's violence?
(2) If so, was that violence used by the prisoners acting together or by either of them?
(3) Was the violence premeditat- ed by either or both? If not, was the violence used of such a nature. that a reasonable person would or would not have anticipated the likelihood of death or grievous bodily harm resulting therefrom?
