A vivid picture of partielpation of tanks in street fighting at Oviedo has reached here. With the object of cleaning up a group of houses where insurgent machine gun posts were proving troublesome, the tanks charged the houses, causing great brea- thes in the walls and putting the runners to fight.

Silver And Sugar Duties "Raised
New Delhi, Feb. 27. The raising of India's duty on silver from two to three annas was announced by the Minister of Finance, Sir James Grigg, when be presented the budget in the Legislative Assembly.
The sugar excise duty has also been raised from 1.5 rupees to two rupees per hundredweight, while the sugar customs duty has been fixed at 7.4 rupees per hundred- weight, in addition to the cxcise at present in force.
Expectations of a heavy budget deficit formed the principal feature of the Finance Member's speech.
Although the Budget was a story of disappointment, Sir James Grigg hoped that the difficulties could be surmounted with little hardship and inconvenience.
