COMMENT

Regarding the Colony team. newcomers to Interport honours are Miss Olive Dalziel, Mis F. Marah. Mrs. Donald and Miss Glover.

Wong,

Misses Gray, Fowler, Smith and Westcott played for the Colony against Shanghai laat year in the North while Miss Iris Wool- ley was a reserve... In 1935, on the occasion of the first visit of the Shanghai team, Misa Woolley, Mrs. Rose, Miss Gray, Miss J. Wong and Miss Smith played for Hong Kong.

The Rest team contains three Interportera among its ranks. They

are Mrs. Lanson and Miss Gittins. who played in Shanghai last year, and Miss B. Pope, who was the Co- tony pivot In 1935. Miss

Joari

Miss A. Fowler (Y.M.C.A. Ladles -Interport, 1936). One of the hardest hitters in local ladies hockey, Mis Fowler is a fearless tackler and has been a stalwart in the Y. Ladles defence for several seasons. She played for the Rest of the Colony in 1935 and gained Interpori recognition last year.

Miss I. Woolley (C.B.A. Ladies- Interport 1935)-Born in Hong Kong, Miss Woolley has been play. ing hockey since 1929: She first took an interest in the game in 1930 when she played for the Cen- tral British Association Ladies in friendly matches. In 1932 she joined the St. Andrew's Ladies for whom she played until 1935 when she joined the C.B.A. Ladies. Is a very good spoiler in the inter- mediate line.

Miss J. Wong (St. Andrew's Ladies Interport, 1935, 1936) -- Born in Queensland, Austrália, she learned the rudimenta of hockey In the early part of 1930 and com- menced serious play for the Dio- cesan Girls' School in 1991. The following year she joined the st Andrew's Ladies and has played pivot for them ever since.

BATTLE

Scotland Win At Swansea

Swansea, Feb. 6. Scotland opened their 1938-37 season with a splendid victory over Wales, the champions, who sus- tained their second successive de- fent, losing by two goals and a try (13 points) to two tries (6 points) before a crowd of 45,000 spectators in glorious weather, but on a fairly soft ground.

In the 13th minute of the game, Wooller, the Welsh left-centre threequarter, seized upon a drop- ped Scotilah pass and raced from the half-way mark across the. Scottish goal-line for a, grand try, but James falled to add the goal points.

McCrae, Scotland's left-centre threequarter, dodged a tackle and passed to. Dick, the Scots' right- centre for a splendid try behind the posts, but G. Shaw missed a fairly easy goal-kick.

A rush by Scottish forwards end- ed in G. Shaw sending Dick over for a score, the former converting to give Scotland the lead.

The Welshmen retaliated strong- ly," but twice missed certain tries through knocking on. Kerr, the Scottish full-back, later fielded a kick by Morris, the Welsh stand- of-half, and passed to R. Shaw, who scored a try without being op- posed. G. Shaw again added the goal points. Just before Ume, Wooller broke through for Wales' second try. Wales had only them- selves to blame for their defeat as they had many opportunities.--- Reuter. "

line, for the past few sessoria.

Mi Olive Dalziel (YM.C.A. Ladies) Has Agured" prominently in the Caer Clark Cup League for. several seasons, playing at right wing. A sister of Mrs. Sybil Gard- ner, the Interporter, she is very speedy and centre with much oc- curacy.

Miss F. Marsh (HKLH.C.)— Played for the Rest of the Colony against Shanghai Ladies In 1925. Is a very useful forward with a good burst of speed. Has played regularly in the Caer Clark Cup 'competition.

Mrs. Donald (H.K.LH.C.)-Com- Irig to the Colony only recently from England, Mrs. Donald is per- haps one of the finest centre-for-

wards seen here for a long time, Has good stick work and is deadly when in the dee. A real goal- getter.

Miss M. Smith (YMCA. Ladica

Smalley was a reserve in the Co-Interport 1936, 1936)She, start-

lony team last year.

STRONG TEAM There is very little room for comment regarding the Interport team, except to state that it is a very

strong combination in at- tack and defence. Misa Jessie Wong has been entrusted the im- portant position of pivot and should acquit herself well. Mrs. Donald, leader of the attack, will "be a thorn in the Northern ladies defence while the Smith-Westcott left wing combination will keep the Shanghai right-half busy, Miss Oliver Dalziel and Miss Marsh, on the right flank, are both speedy.
