Friday, Aug. 28. The price for Ready Silver was unchanged yesterday but the For- ward rate rose 1/18. the quota- tions being 19 9/16 for both de liveries. Silver advices reported India
as having bought. China , sold. The market was quietly
steady. After the official
fixing India was reported as being a small seller. In America the "rate was unchanged at 44 3/4 for Spot, The London-New York CT033- rate was quoted at 5.02 7/8. The London-New York rate was quoted at 5.03 1/32.

Steady but quiet.
STERLING
A small business was reported at 1/2 29/32 for cash. The market closed at 1 p.m. with sellers at 1/2, 7/8 cash-December, buyers at 1/2 29/32 September-December and probably for August delivery.
U.S. DOLLABS No business was reported. There were sellers at 31 3/18 August- October and probably November. buyers at 31 1/4 for any delivery.
SHANGHAI DOLLARS There were sellers at 103 3/8 buyers probably at 103 7/18 for cash.
