The Indian, described as a laun- dryman, denied this.

Sergt. Dewar, prosecuting, stated that accused was arrested in the barracks by Subedar Amrik Singh. At the station, Ko claimed to have been employed and later pointed out an Indian laundryman as his employer. He claimed to receive a salary of $3 a month.

The magistrate enquired whether the laundryman would be allowed to get a pass if accused was his employee.

Sergt. Dewar replied in the af- Armative.

Adreasing accused, the Magis- trate remarked: "I am believing you this time. You have got to get a pass. If your master won't get one you had better leave him

alone."

Discharging accused, his Wor- shpl said that it appeared likely that the laundryman had failed to obtain the necessary pass and therefore denied knowledge of the accused.
