Views And Reviews Of The Teams And Players
(By "PIVOT"}
The Club senior certainly gave South China "A", potential Champions a fright last week in their initial league encounter when the Home team lost to the Chinese by the odd goal in three. But for the poor shooting ability of the Club forwards the reverse might had been the result, as it was South China "A" just scrap- ed home by the narrowest margin.
The Royal Welch Fusiliers were decidedly unlucky in giving away both points to the Recreto when after more than holding their own they had the misfortune to lose Keneghan, their stal-
wart pivot who broke his leg.
Sunday's game between South China. "B" and the Athletic pro- duced football of a high order but the abundance of petty fouls rob- b.d the game of much of the in. terest.
However the result was quite a fair indication of the run of play
with the Athletle to-day.
There
are several players 'who are up to Mrs Division standard but as a first division team plenty of in-, provement Is necessary. The Athletic is a sound well-balariced team and ought to win.

CLUB-RECREIO CONTEST The Club-Recreio clash is another classic on the card. teams are about of equal_calibre- and both have a good defence. Of the two sets of forwards, I fancy the latter who not only are fast on their feet but are quite cap-

At no stage of the game were the Guar dians of the law seriously chal- lenged. A feature of the gaine was the "hat trick" performed by John-able of scoring. The Club lacks a
ton. The Police played well to a man and for the College, Ward in the forward line and E. Marques in goal and Leonard in the pivotal position were outstanding
RIDLEY AND CO
Fan
The Lincolnshire Regiment re- turned to form last week end when in their encounter against Kow loon they
out winners by four goals to one. The first half was very evenly cont-sted. from Higgins had suppled Ridley with a sitter, Oppenheim equalised ust before the interval. However a different complexion was put in to the game in the second stanza when by dint of concerted efforts the soldiers plied on three more goals.
real sharp shooter and in this de- partment it will be a big handi- cap to them. Recreio ought to win but by the barest margin.
The weak St. Joseph's team is meeting against the Navy lads at Causeway Bay.. The College boys have been very disappointing of late and unless they can get our of the rut they are in for another defeat.
The Fusiliers-Lincolns game should attract many supporters: On paper the Lincolns are favour- ed to win but according to the respective forms which have been on display of iate the Fusiliers are capable of holding their against. the Colony's best. game which will be played in real military spirit will no doubt end with the team which can score and score when the opportunity pre- sents itself.

than
The Royal Navy had a close shav: when they narrowly de- feated the RA (L) by the odd goal in seven, The soldiers gave a bet- ter exhibition of football for some time past and their ne feat was a trifle unlucky. The soldiers defence did not at all start off well! They were inclined to fall back too far with the result that if a forward pass was to be found the players were more often than not at a distance behind, The Naval defence was in the limelight most of the time and in Bowers the pivot they had a tower of strength
GUNNERS WEAKENED The splitt'ng of the Gunners into two teams have somewhat weaken --
ed their position. The Stonegut ters squad were badly trounced by the East Lancs, to the tune of six goals to one. Bandford's oppor- tunisin was amply rewarded with four goals. The Lancs. were at full strength and every man played to standard. For the Gunners Lewis Land Hall were the-pick.
