London, November 15. Expectations that the National Government will obtain

a victory at the polls is borne out by the results so far available. In 277 results hitherto declared the Govern- ment purties have secured 191 seats and the Opposition

The reduction of the Government majority at the last Parliament is unlikely to be as large as many prophets on both sides anticipated.

The Government so far has gained five and lost 30 seats. The Opposition gained 44 seats and lost 10.

The Stock Exchange regards the trend of the elections as highly satisfactory. At the opening sharp advances. were registered in home securities, especially gilt-edged stocks which in some instances rose over the sovereign. Industrials were in strong demond.

Election results have so far spell- ed disaster to the women, of when only three from the Conservative

All the Ministers so far have been successful. but Mr. Ramsay MacDonald practically admits his defeat and has returned to London from Seaham.

He told Reuter that he had lost Seaharh and described the contest as tremendously keen and fishy.

He added that he was much too tired to discuss future, plans.

A feature of the election up to the present is the heavy reverses suffered by Liberal, several of whom forfeit their deposit. Op- position Liberals led by Bir Her- bert Samuel have lost their leader.
