Hands And Nails Require Special Care In Winter

Hands and finger nails require careful treatment at this season of the year. In the case of finger nails some form of remedial treatment is more of a necessity Hard Dovel varnishes. water, cold, and fog all take their toll, and the lower state of health of many women in the winter has Its immediate effect on finger

than

nails.

Consultations on remedial nail treatment are a feature in one Bond-street parlour where atten- tion is concentrated on hand and nail beauty. Courses of 12 treat- ment, which include manicure, are being taken by clients.

First-aid home preparations which are being packed in the holiday beauty box Include a specially prepared cream for nails that are apt to separate them- selves from the anger owing to weakness after influenza or acidity. It is applied nightly all over the nails, and gloves are in tended to be worn during sleep.

Hurrying up the natural growth of the nail is one of the best ways of removing Imperfections, split nally, or white marked nails, and this is often necessary in con- valescence, when the natural rate of nail growth has been slowed down. A twofold treatment that women can give themselves at home consists in a day grower and a night grower the former

For the older woman whose nails are apt to lose their natural pink

to colour, and become blotched and dull, 2 country nall specialist has made up a

cream in pink or white. This has to be rubbed into the mall and the surrounding skin every night after the fingers have been care- fully washed in warm water and thoroughly dried.

For Nicotine Stains American women have several first-aid preparations for finger" nails during their severe winters" which have crossed the Atlantic recently. One ta a bleach for nicotine, ink, and fruit stains on the hall and Anger tip, which is made in powder form for travelling, and in liquid form for the home dressing table. P

Another is a polish for those who do not care to varnish their nails or thing it better to discon- tinus varnish while nails grow stronger. This polish in its paste form is specially devised for brittle and dry nails, and in its powder form is suitable for the normal healthy finger nall.

Effect Of Cruising"

Cruising is having a noticeable effect upon dress-fabric patterns. Descent Of The Crown- White Hat Vogue-The Forward Trend

Spring hats are taking definite shape and colours, too, are more decided. Line is most important, and proportions are certainly im- proved. The high crown has de- scended; brims clearly make for e forward movement. This is the dewest note in millinery, and one which will clearly distinguish new purchases from last year's models..

In the newer forward line the hair can be well covered, if ɖe-. sired. For the cold winds of the early year, this freak of fashion • is a becoming and practical one, unless it becomes too narrow.

Black leads in favour--some dark browns, the Lenten parma shade and a darker purple have appeared. 'A' spring-green, almost grass-colour, is responsible for some chic little taffeta bonnets with scarves to match. A little red, the pillar-box shade, is seen in most collections,

Navy and white is a favourite with Agnes, who introduces the foulard-taffeta-a compromise be- tween tafeta and the foulard that men's ties are made of-of navy with white, a bird's-eye spot. This silk she uses for her piquant wide bowed looped scarf with the narrow halo-off-the-face toque. She also provides a wider halo, and the matching scarves " are. most interesting.
