Tokyo-An increase of 26.5 per cent. was recorded in Japan's for- eign trade for. October. The in crease was registered both in ex- ports and imports. The only ex- ception was a decline in the export of raw silk. The whole position is illustrated in the monthly re- turns just issued by the Depart- ment of Finance.

According to the official returns | trade totalled Y310,056,000; ¥170,- 986,000 in exports and ¥159,070,000 in imports showing a balance of Y31,915,000 in favour of exports: Compared with the corresponding period of last year, this shows increase of Y23,528,000 (16 per

cent.) in exports, Y41,347,000 (42.3 per cent.) in imports and T64,875,- 000 (28.5 per cent.) fa total.
