Luz was playing at the top of his form and scored time after time when it looked as if the head would o to Bradbury. He overshadowed his opponent and Bandbury appear ed to be put off by Luz's brilliance. Taking the lead from the first hend. Luz never looked like being overhauled, bis shots as well as his placing giving him a big margin over Bradbury, who appear ed at ease throughout,

The most spectacular part of the game was in the last head, when, needing four shots to win, Luz put in four shots all near the jack to Scole the...maximum and thus eliminate Bradbury.

The match Insted eighteen heade; during which Bradbury only col ected eight pojuts.

The Play

Interest, of course, is mainly centred on the Hong Kong meet- ing for which the chief event is the Subscription Griffins Chal- lenge Cup.

The main attractions of the second half of the year's racing are undoubtedly the St. Leger for the three sections the Grimns, Subscription Griffins,

It is too early to make any före casts. The best

ponies of the "Dunbar" and "Dynasty" stables are still away from the Colony and it is not known what the plans are with regard to the Leger and the subsequent Champions.

De Minimis „Was also sent out and galloped well The Panther is running much bet- ter than he ever did, and Duples who was such a disappointment in the earlier part of the season is now stepping beautifully and may still redeem himself!

Now a Vigilance, Melody and The Time are three ponies which are the biggest dangers to the fa vourite. Melody is jumping out of his skin, and can race to-morroW, if need be. Vigilance is a bit back- ward still and Now's The Time does not seem to be at his best, but don't forget, these ponies have)| done very well in the first half. and are not entirely out of it

Disorderly Conduct does not ap- pear to be disorderly any longer, but I do think this pony is not "class" enough. Victor, was a dis- appointment in the earlier part of the year, but he seems to be a hundred per cent. better" now.. Will he account for any upset? Darien is still going strong and at the present rate he is sure to be a danger to the "favourites. though

Jack has not been racing since the Annual Meeting, nor Charming Star, but in the absence of Trentbridge these are the pontes I should look to for the St Leger. Cossack's Beauty is here and is looking very it, but the pony is no stayer. The apply to The Goat. feld is somewhat limited for the griffins class, as there were very few stayers in the 1933 lot. -

I have not heard what Harriman will be riding, ner Soares, but there are so many good poules in this race that no doubt these jockeys will take something out. SHAUKIWAN MURDERED

EXECUTED

Fan Hing the 20 year old Chinese who was sentenced to death at the July Criminal Bes- sions for the murder of an aged widow named Fo Mul in Shauki- wan, was hanged at Victoria Guol at 5.01 am. yesterday morning.

It will be recalled that the man was found guilty of strangling the woman, and was sentenced by Mr. Justice Wood.

The execution was carried out in the presence of Mr. Hopkins (Superintendent of Prisons), Dr. Grinth (Gaol Medical Officer) and Chief Warder Buchanan.

A formal enquiry into Fan Hings death was held at Central Magistracy in the afternoon, and after evidence had been heard the tury, composed of Messrs. 8. Lang- Held, D. D. McKay and W. C. Lub returned a verdict that the man had met his death by Judicial
