The two vessels have been taken over by the Standard Fruit and Steamship Company, and towed to New Orleans from the League Island Navy Yard at Philadelphia after they had been relieved of most of their war fittings. Their reconditioning includes the installa tion of Diesel engines to give a speed of 16 knots when fully loaded: It is expected that the capacity of ench veate will be about 25,000 bunches of bananas.
