BIG BUSINESS CONTINUES ON THE RIALTO: MAY SETTLEMENT NOT HEAVY.

One of the biggest share deals put through since 1993 took place last week, when a large parcel of Hong Kong Trams, Wharves, Elec- trics, Lands, and Ferries changed hands. Large though the deal was, quotations were not, affected in any way, the shares being, I under stand, quickly snapped up, and at the close of business last week the market was as strong as ever.

The deal, which I understand involves shares valued at over $1,000,000, failed in fact to make any impression on the market at all, which speaks well for the future the immediate future, at

least.

CHINA PROVIDENTS are casier and, shares, can be obtained. at $3.90.

HONG KONG HOTELS are also on the easy side, and large parcels have been put through at 12.05 and $12.80 during the week. The buying rate at the close was about

HONG KONG LANDS changed hands at 883 to $84.30. A fairly large business appears to have been done in this stock, but the rates aagged a little towards the close of the week, when buyers were only offering $83.50.
