PRESIDENT HALL ACCOUNTS FOR MAIN EVENT OF THE DAY,

MR: STEWART WINS NOVICE RACE ON SAN FRANCISCO.

[BY MORNING DEW"]

The feature of yesterday's racing was the breaking of the record for seven furlongs by Zorhan, recently imported into the Colony by Mr. Chan Tin Sion, who also owns Apollo, which has several records to its name in. Hong Kong..

Zorhar. ran against Royal Flush who on Saturday, accounted for President Hall. Royal Flush, in spite of Mr. Heard's assistance, could make no impression on Zurhan yesterday. The record was lowered by 2.1-3 seconds.

President Hall won the main event of the day, The Easter Stakes, in effortless fashion. The Novice Race went to Mr. Stewart who brought in San Francisco.

RESULTS AND FULL DETAILS OF YESTERDAY'S

THE RACING.

Zorhan started a hot favourite here, in spite of the presence of Royal Flush Pickle and Good and Hat. Pickle And Royal Flush show- ed the way, followed two lengths behind by Zoiban. Good and Hot was out of it all the way.

Zorlan came through the beauti- fully in the straight to win by many lengths from Royal Flush Pickle was three lengths in arrears.

Zoln returned 1 minute 44.3-5 seconds. For this race, which is 2.1-3 seconda, better than the record held until yesterday by Boxing Eve. Mira Bay Handicap "" Olass.

Feurtzen ponies started here, and imperial Hall, Town Hall and Suening were amongst those beet' in demand. The start took over ten minutes as the field could not be brought into line. "Dr. MacGown. was thrown in front of the grand- stands, but fortunately was not in- jured.

Starling Stakes.

Dunce started favourite here in a field of eight. He only managed to win by a short head from Billiards, after a thrilling struggle in the straight.

Happy Day was a good third, just disposing of Thracian.

Hebe Plate.

The Ape and Bridge Hall were most in demand in this field of sover starters. Tango led all the way, Bridge Hall was left at the start. The field kept fairly well i together, and at the Rock was well

bunched.

Mr.

They kept silidly to-. gether until the straight was reach- ed, when Tango drew out slightly followed by Bridge Hall. Harrimus gave Tango no chance to slack and had half a length to the good" at the close. Zephyr came up with a great rash at the end to get within half a length of Bridge Half.

Playing on the Garrison ground at Sookunpoo, the Athletic defeat- ed the RA.M.C. by the narrow margin of one goal and are now equal in points with the Navy Reserves.

End to end play followed but the Athletic showed the better team work. However. the R.A.M.C. were the first to score. From a long paas by Paterson, Luna trap- ped the ball and sent it into the net well out of Wong Yuen Sing's reach. The Athletic thea set up a bombardment of the R.A.M.C. goal but the defence held out until the interval. Half-time: R.A.M.C. 1, Chinese Athletic "A" 0.

When the game resumed the Athletic asserted themselves and Choi Ping Fan scored with a fast cross shot that gave Newlands no chance. The Athletic returned to the attack and a defender handled inside the area and they were awarded a penalty kick. Chinese "B" had no difficulty in disposing of Eastern by three clear goals. It was a tame game with the "B" always superior. The commencement saw tho. "B1⁄4” pressing and da Silva was kept perpetually on the alert, poor shoot- ing being the only reason that the Chinese were not several goals up in the first session. Yang Kwok Wah was the live wire of the "B's" team, kurping his forwards sup plied with plenty of passes. Fui Tin Lum endeavoured to break through on his own but was neatly checked by Lau Ching Yan. The "B" forced a corner but da Silva caught and cleared for East- ern to make a breakaway on the left, and from Lai Ting Choy's centre, Moosa narrowly missed. Again Moosa had bad luck when attempting a difficult angle shot. The Chinese returned to the attack for Fui Tin Lum to open up theit account from Wong Sun's centre. Half-time: Eastern 0, Chinese "B".

1.

On resuming the "B's" kept the pressure up, and da Silva brought off some good saves from the op- posing three inside forwards. Weak shooting was still the "B's" down- fall, all shots with a few exceptions going straight to the goalkeeper. The Chinese next goal came from a penalty kick awarded for hands againat Kwan Wa Lam. Yung Kwok Wa made no mistake from the spot. Eastera were BOW beaten team, and what few efforts they mande lacked vim, vigour and vitality. The "B'" did just what. they wanted to do except score goals. Near the end Yung Kwok Wa ran through, beating all at tempts to frustrate him and scored "a good goal. The final whistle sa the Chinese easy winners by, three goals to nil. Final score: Eastern 0, Chinese "37 3.
