the Kizoras Congratulations to upon their win over last season's champions, the Filipinos Cinb, at Saturday. the Navy Field on Although it did not come na a sur prise, it was nevertheless a good piece of work. Pitcher Lee "found his, arm right from the start, and phed better than he has done bore this season. A word of praise must be also given to C. K. Leung, mare familiarly known as "Peter." for some emart work at centre-field, where he brought off several brilliant catches. As far as the Phillies were cancerned, they appeared to take the game too casily, and when they realised all too late that they were up against acrious opposition, they made spirited effort to pull things round. In this they failed, though David Leonard, their third baseman, hit a beautiful home run in the last innings,

The game between "South China and the Baseball Club, which pro- mised to be a very close one, proved yet another disappointing game for the Baseball Club stalwarts.. was indeed good to see Rufin down here again, and as a ball fan re- marked to me in the stand last Saturday" Ruffin would win any game for the Baseball Club if be had the right team behind him."

He certainly pitched a good game, and I reckon he's got more on the ball than any other twirlerseen at the Navy Field.. Ed. Chang did nil that was expected of bim, and while it is only fair to give credit where credit is due, I believe there is rather too much of the "support- home-industry" spirit expressed in some quarters,

*

Matty Chang, alugged a hefty one towards left field for the circuit run in the third inning and, as if to even up matters, Russakoff sogged the pill to nowhere in the third innings of the Baseball Club with Skinner ahead. The score 9-2 "in favour of the Chinese was not a fair indication of the play, which at times was of a very high standard, and equally exciting. The Gelding of the Club left much to be desired, and it was evident that they sorely Jacked the services of "Bill" Burrell and Owen Hughes.

To-morrow South China will play their return game with the Kinoras, and though they won 5-1 in their first encounter, the leaders will be well advised not to take the "bud- ding champs!' too lightly, for although they are not expected to win, I confidently predict a rather close tussie, with South China just getting home in the finish,

On Sunday the Japanese will engage the Baseball Club in a seven-inning battle, and on recent form I tip the former as likely winners. The Ball Club, however, have a lot of leeway to make up and it will be interesting to see whe ther they will cast off the bad spell which has settled on them ever since the beginning of the season.

Baseball fans who go to these games have a lot to be thankful for-the grandstand is better now than ever before, and the ground is a very suitable one. As a mattor of fact," everything seems

Here's a bit of news which might interest those who have not yet beard about it. W. H. Sling, the second baseman of the 1928 South China nine, and one of their most reliable batters, who left the Colony a bachelor for the United States last June will be returning shortly with his bride. I am sure all ball fans will join me in wishing the happy couple the best of good fortune.
