MARKETS REVIEWED.,

CHINA.

The Financial Timer states that the Eastern Textile Association-the small vertical combine of producers, finishers and merchants of cotton goods formed in. Lancashire some six months ago-has succeeded in establishing that Lancashire can recover, her competitive power in bulk lines of cotton goods formerly shipped in large quantities to the East.

In committing themselves finan cially in the Eastern Textile Asso- ciation, the various interests Be themselves the task of reducing costs in the complete chain of pro- duction from the the raw material stage to the time when the finished product was sold abroad, shipping the goods direct to China through one central agency, and allowing then to take their chance in the open auctions of China against the manufactures of Japan.
