New York. December 6th-Pro- hibition enforcement agents fired shots early this morning at a num ber of bootleggers who had boarded the White Star liner Majestic seek- ing to buy liquor from the crew,

There were no casualties. The shots were fired to frighten the bootleggers in order to hasten their departure from "the Majestic. Bootleggers' Method..

It usual for local bootleggers to visit liners secretly on their arriving from Europe and to offer handsome liquor.

. prices for smuggled

Prohibition agents boarded the Hamburg America Liner New York and the Atlantic Transport liner Minnewaska, besides the Majestic.

Seven bootleggers were found is the New York and nine is the Minnewaska." They fed on the approach of the agents, who found 300 bottles of liquor in the New Tork and 185 in the Minnewaska.

Dash To Escape.

The agents then inspected. the Majestic, where, forty-two bootleg- gers dashed about the ship, seek ing to escape. A number delayed ibeir movements and it was to expedite them that the shots were fired,
