**Who Is The Agent↑ " Lance-Sergt. Went replied that The really didn't know who was the Agent. He had made enquiries, but could not find out the name of the Agent.
Mr. M. K. Lo informed his Worship that the head office of the China Merchants S.N. Company was not in the Colony, but there was a local manager who looked after the Hong Kong branch. The vessel belonged to the China' Mer- chanta S.N. Company and the local branch manager is Me Choi Chui Chuan, but he could not say whether he was the agent or not. However, he did not intend to rely on such a technicality in asking his Worship to dismiss the summons.. If his Worship would hear his submission on the alleged offence, which was that no cargo was worked on the ahip that day, according to the Ordinance, bis Worship would por haps dismiss the summons in any
case.
The Magistrate then asked the prosecution: "Who is the Agent whom you are charging!"
Lance Sergeant, Went repeated that he couldn't say. When he made his enquiries no one would come forward as the Agent.

High Standard Of Work, The standard in all subjects throughout the school has risen con- aiderably in recent years (boys are younger and brighter than they used to be) and the curriculum bas been widened and the syllabus stiffened up correspondingly.
Our endeavour to raise the stan dard of work and widen the curri culum and syllabus has its draw- backs. During the last year or two it has come to my notice that a number of our most promising boys have left and have been able to en- ter other schools in a elasa shove the one here, thus skipping a year, This skimming of the cream of our talent is regrettable and disap pointing but I am afraid we must be philosophical and gtin and bear it, hoping that in time they (the Lore) will see the unwisdom of their way
His Worship said that he felt he could not go on with the case. He unust have a definite defendant.
The summons was accordingly dismissed.
