Trials have taken place and liveries made by Mess. W. 8. Bailey & Co., Ltd., of the steel bulk oil motor lighter Utah and of the steel tug best Chirm Chom Phot. Descriptions of these vessels were given in a recent issue. The Diah, when fully loaded, made an aver- age trial speed of 2.63 knots against the contract speed of 7.5 knots only. The Chirm Chom Phol, on her trial trip, made an average sped of 9.63s knots against a contract speed of 9 knots only. The machinery in both cases ran perfectly and the speeds were easily, maintained.

Messrs. W. S. Bailey & Co. have row in hand an 80ft." twin screw trakwood launch for the Earbour Master's department, to be fitted with semi-Deisel Gardner motors; a100ft, steam launch for the Police Department, generally similar to the No Police they lately built and which maintained a speed of over 13 knots; a peft, tug boat for the Macao Government, and three gunboats for the Cantor Govern- ment all these vessels being of steel.
