WEEK-END FREIGHT

RETURNS.

SMALL ENTRIES ON

SATURDAY.

BIG INCREASE IN CARGO YESTERDAY.

Freight returna on Saturday, with only five vessels arriving for the previous twenty-four hours, reached a very low level, but yester- day's returns showed a considerable increase in freight. Both Heng Kong cargo and through freights were notably improved, due to big increase in the number of arrivals, Hong Kong imports being up by over seven times that of Saturday's returns. The rise in through freights was on a similar scale, but a trio lower.

SATURDAY'S RETURNS.

The freight returns" during the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. on Satur day, showed that the figures both for local imports and through car- goes were low. There boing only five entries.

The Colony's imports amounted to 3,901 tons. Of these, 3,879 tons were discharged by British steamera. The heaviest roturn was 2,240 tons of rice on the Kwangtung, from Bangkok,

Through freights totalled to 1,755 tons, of which, 1,700 tons were manifested on the s.s. Astolic Prince- (British) from New York and Shanghai.
