Last year bath Hamburg-Aneri- en and North German Lloyd in particular, he added, had expanded by means of fusions with other. companies. He expressed the be lief that the formation of these big combines was practically at an end. The expected fusion between the two lines mentioned has not taken place and he stated that collabora tion between them would only take the form of free arrangements as to individual details arising out of their competitive activities. general he spoke strongly in favour of the maintenance as separate en- tities of the numerous small com-- panies still existing.
