This is the first occasion on which Mr. Jacks has acted in this capacity, as, since he first came here in 1903, he has been in the Land Offee and was raised to the post of Land Officer in 1910.

He has, however, served for short periods as acting Oficial Receiver and acting Crown Solicitor, whilst last year he was given the additional post of Regia- trar of Marriages.

Mr. Jacks, who was educated at Plymouth College, was admitted a solicitor in England in 1900 and was called to the Boa at the Inner Temple in 1929.
