They are an average crowd of China ponies with no trace of mixed blood in any of them. Under existing conditions in the North we are, fortunate in getting down these animals. This would not have been possible but for the assistance of a keen local supporter of racing whose help is much appreciated.

CAMBRIDGE MATCH.

To-morrow afternoon the annual cricket match will be played between the local Oxford and Cambridge Societies on the Hong Kong Cricket Club ground..

Play will begin at 1,46, following tifin, and will be continued until 5.30 when stumps will be drawn. There will be an interval for tea.

On Thursday the usual mid-week match at the Kowloon Cricket Club will be played. This week the Club are enter. taining a team from the King's Own Scottish Borderers, who were to have played there last week.

There will be special holiday matches throughout the Christmas On Christ mas Day there will commence match between the Hong Kong Cricket Club and the Army, which will be concluded on the following Monday. There will also be matches on the Monday between the K.C.C. and the Navy; and the Club de Recreio and the Hong Kong Volunteers

I have seen Evis at each of the lights he has fought in Hong Kong. He is quite a good boxer, but as yet he has not been pitted against such a dour fighter as Howard. Only the other day Ewin was fighting in the welters. Now be has gone to the middles. For to-night's fight. Howard will be lighter than he was when The tought Francis. I cannot see what chance Ewin has in this fight. It Howard can beat Francis and this he did easily, he should have an easier task in fighting Ewin.
