HONG KONG SHIPPING. DROP IN LOCAL AND THROUGH
- FREIGHTS.
The week-end returns of general merchandise imported into the Colony, and also for ports beyond Hong Kong, abowed a heavy decrease.

For the 48 hours ended at 9 zu yesterday, there were only 8,813 tons of general cargo discharged here from 13 Vessels out of 2 arrivals. Six British steamers contributed 2,533 tons. The best returns were showed by the President Polk, which brought 1,031 tons from Boston and Shanghai, and the a Jorioka Maru, from Calcutta Singapore also discharged 933, tons here. Through freights were only manifested on 3 vessels out of the which came into Lee Sang, British str., 979 tons, Capt. port during the 48 hours ended at 9 J. MeAinsh, fra Shanghai vid yesterday. The total tonnage car- Swatow, with a general cargo, lying ried was 8,804 tons, with only 70 tons on WhartJardiae, one British steamer. The as Prendent Polk had the heaviest through cargo. at West Point Matheson & Co.
She had 4,600 tons, and the .s. Morioka Tai Sze Mn, Chinese str., 402 tons, Capt.

ARRIVALS.
Fire Japanese vessels which came into port during the week-end discharged 15,328 tons of coal here, and carried 2,700 tons for ports beyond.
The total number of deck passengers entered Hong Kong during the 43 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday was 606.
The ss. Haldis (British) arriving into port on Sunday, brought 2,000 tons of salt- from Tourane.
Arriving from Sourabaya and Balik- papan, the J.C.J.L. steamer Tjisnlak, brought 3,413 tons of sugar for local dis charge.
SHIPPING MOVEMENTS.
The P. & O. 8.3. Nellore left Shanghai for this port on the 18th inst. at 9.30 a.m., and is due here this (Tuesday) morning at about 8 o'clock.
