SHIPPING NEWS.

ARRIVALS.

December 5th. Albert Sarrant, French str., 1,354 tops, Capt. Clainante, from Saigon, which port she left on November 30th, with rice and general cargo, lying at buoy No. C43-Hock Ngunn Seng. driatic Prince, British motor ship, 3,874 toos, Capt. E. E. Jones, from New York and Shanghai. The latter port .she left on December 3rd, with 150 tons of general cargo, lying at buoy No AFurness (Far East).

HONG KONG SHIPPING.

WEEK-END RETURNS.

During the 24 hours ended at 9 am on Sunday, cargo for both local dis charge and porte beyond, remained below the average. There were only 5,439 tons of general merchandise discharged here, of which, 4,439′ tons were carried by š British steamers, and 1,000 tons by one. American vessel. The best returns were shown by the Pheumpen (British) from Saigon, which brought 1,730 tons, British vessel from and the Shirala, Calcutta and Singapore brought 1,300

For porta beyond there were 7,120 tons Eiger, Norwegian str. 875 tons, Capt. manifested on vessels passing through Pettersen, from Canton, with a gene Hong Kong. Two British vessels carried: ral cargo, lying at buoy No. C-3,120 tons, and the balance of 9,000 were Karatsa Larsen & Co.

on the Eldridge, an American steamer Fenglee, Chinese str. 1.263 tons, Capt. from Seattle and Amoy.

Yesterday's returns for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. showed that freights for the Colony have returned to the usual average. There were a total of 17,019 tons of general cargo imported into Hong Kong with 7,579 tons on 5 British vessels.

The three best returns were 2,600 tons from the Tjimaŋvek, a Dutch boat, from Batavia, 2,416 tons from the Indo-China coastal steamer, Chip Shing, from Tien-

in and Weihaiwel, and 2,000 tons from the aging from Bangkok and Swatow.

During the same period'under review, cargo for ports boyond were still below the usual average. Through freights manifested on steamers passing through British vessels were responsible for 2,808 Hong Kong totalled 6,959 tons. Three
