ADDRESS.

In a fashion article occurs the follow ing: The plume on this hat stands a couple of feet above the head." Even in these days of eccentricity and extravagant dressing one can hardly imagine that any woman could have the courage to be seen wearing such a feather as this. It is ever worse than the stick of roses described a week or two since, though the former is mitigated by the curling fronds of the feather. Perhaps the chronicler who de scribed it many have but a faint idea of me of March 29th, stated that they the number of inches that go to a foot, had received to communication from the Women are inclined to be a little vague Admiralty respecting the arming of their about such measurements, but it is pre vessels in accordance with the proposals ferable to think one writer in error than outlined in Mr. Churchill's statement on to believe that any individual of our sex the Navy Estimates. It was understood, could go forth wearing a feather twenty-though, that at least one great Liverpool four inches higher than herself.

company had received an intimation that if the company eared to apply for guns and ammunition for a number of its vessels the Admiralty would be glad to supply Bantchong thein. One company admitted that its gel evly ships, which are engaged on a southerly Kengenti... route, might be vulnerable to attack, and Kwangvingshing that it had known that certain forsign Songwan merchantmen carried guns. A proposal, Sonia Travellers therefore, that the vessels should be able Shunok to meet on equal terms, seemed logical. Tohuchangtai Another company recalled the days-long 1795 (337 3768 before the construction of the Mauretania | 5940 and Lusitania-when various vessels were built to net as subsidiary cruisers, and were chartered definitely to the Admiralty in times of difficulty. The general attitude was ons of great interest in Mr. Churchill's proposals, coupled with the intention to make ro move unless and until a request to act were received from the Admiralty

CERISE STILL SMART..

Cherry colour and pale heliotrope may not at the first blush seem to be a very harmonious mixture, but for evening wear it is entirely successful. The gown is a clinging one of palest, heliotrope ninon and the one-sided panier, continued to form half the bodies on the other side, is in cherry-coloured chiffon dotted over with diamanté. The beauty of this com bination secured for it much admiration, worn as it was by a tall, good-looking, and graceful, dark-haired girl. The belt was so thickly covered with diamanté that its colour could only be divined. It was really a cerise silk. For street wear cherry colour is as much in favour as ever. A costume of grey voile, thick and solid of fabric, had a small collar at the back in cherry coloured silk, and the cuffs and single pocket were piped with the same, the revers in the material of the cont itself and the lining was thin, cherry coloured silk. With this the hat worn was grey straw with a ruching of cherry coloured ribbon and two flowing vulture plumes.

THE THREE-DECKER,

fier skirt, more particularly for version Fashion never quite neglects the three wear. The version of it for the present season is that the various tiers rise little in front dropping slightly towards the back. This does away with the straight line round the body which de tracts so much from the height of the wearer. A specimen of the gown is soft satin in a tone of green like that of the tulip foliage. Each flounce is bordered with gold lace mounted on gold net po daintily jewelled with emerald and gold crystals. The fichu which also forms the sleeves is trimmed in exactly the same fashion.

PYJAMAS FOR WOMEN

The fashion of pyjamas for women in rapidly increasing. There are many commendations for this over the ordinary nightgown. A suit in Vivella has a jacket rather ent away in front of the collar and supplied with a narrow waist- band: The sleeves are long enough 10 reath the wrists. This is in contrast fü the longcloth or lawn nightgown with its low cut round the shoulders and its very short sleeves, the whole most suitable for wearing in cold weather.

In fact, it's all very simple. Yanchngtai Not so long ago I came to the conclusion Yaky that any man or woman can keep well if he or she will be careful.

Everybody should think health. That wounds funny, perhaps. It means that you haven't to worry, to get wild when things don't go smoothly, or fly into a temper "if your boot-lace breaks just when you are about to rush for the train.

These are what I call rough and ready rules of health.' But they don't fill the bill altogether, old boy. There are times when the stomach or the liver become disordered no matter how careful you are, and then you get such distressing symptoms as pains after eating, head- aches, kiliousnes, sleeplessness, nervous- ness Hatulence, constipation, fürred tongue, loss of appetite, or languor.

It isn't enough. Barker Bobbie went on, just to think health. When you and yourself subject to indigestion just Ery Mother Beigel's Syrup. As I told you, once before, I've proved its worth in my own case. It's n capital remedy for stomach and liver troubles. We always keep a bottle of it in the house. My wife takes it. The same design in to be had in cream- coloured lace with gold beads.

THE TRA GOWN,

Bobbie Smith's advice to his friend Barker should be followed by all who suffer in the way he describes. Tens of thousands of people have found that Mother Seigel's Syrup gives a sustaining sense of comfort to the whole systern by toning and strengthening the stomach. liver, kidneys, and bowels.
