Brain Fag, Nervous Exhaustion-
THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, SATURDAY, APRIL 19mm, 1918.
Just a change of opiurn was enough to give Mr. W. King his present prosperity, for he realised in the rick of time that his way was not curing his brain fag and nervous exhaustion, to be tried the Phosferine way. Mr. King's method was to ignore his despondency and feeling of collapse, and persuade himself there was nothing unusual in the painful fatigue the lightest effort to work cost him, until, as he steadily got worse, he resolved to drop his own opinion and see what Phosferine could do. The result was so astonishingly beneficial, even after a few doses, that the brain fag and nervous exhaustion cer sed entirely, enabling him to do more work than before and yet not feel the strain. This remarkable advantage is seen in the extraordinary energy and vigour of Mr. King's public speaking, and so amazingly have his prospects improved since his speedy recovery, that he declares he had to come forward with the evidence of the magnificent benefit he derived from Phosferine.
Quite Gone-Never Return.
Mr. W. J. King, School House, Trumpington Rd., Forest Gate, London, E, writes:-"I am writing to add my bame to the list of those people who have found Phosferine to be the Greatest of all Tonics. Some time back » I was very much run down through overstrain brought on by incessant bodily exercise and mental application. The usual tendency of mankind is to give up some of their work, have a rest, and at the same time take medicine, so I endeavoured to keep going on without seeking advice, but as I was getting worse I found the policy would not do. Having heard many friends speak about Phosferine, and one in particular offering me some, I decided to give it a trial. Purchasing a-2/6 bottle, I began to doctor myself. The result not only astonished me, but others also noticed how much better I was, even although I had only taken a few doses. I found I could do the same amount of work easier, and at present am able to do more than before and yet not feel the strain. I have a good deal of public speaking, and I find an occasional dose of Phosferine is a great benefit."--May 28, 1912.

OF THE
CLEVEREST BOY IN THE WORLD, Norbert Weiner, who has for years past borne the sobriquet of the "cleverest boy in the world," has been, at the age of sigh teen, awarded a degree of Doctor of Philosophy at Harvard University (says the New York World).
When he was eighteen months old Nor- bert knew his alphabet, and at three could read and write; as six he had mastered arithmetic, algebra, plane and solid geometry; at eight he read books in Latin, German, French, and Russian; at nine he was solving problems in trigonometry and calculus; at twelve he was an expert in chemistry.
"GREATER THAN ENCLE WOODROW."
Elizabeth Wilson, eight years old, daughter of Captain Alfred Wilson and grandniece of President Wilson, received a big box of candy from Chief Justice. White, a sequel to an incident in the Presidential reviewing stand (says the New York Herald.
Elizabeth was sented beside the Chief Justice while the parade was passing. She had been introduced to him and was reciting her proud opinion of the new President.
"I think Unele Woodrow is the greatest man in the world," she told the Chief Justice..
"Oh, no," said the Chief Justice, with asinile, that can't be."
Little Elizabeth turned her golden- haired bead upward inquiringly.
"And why is that!" she demanded. "Because I made him President," laughed the Chief Justice.
Elizabeth's opinion of the Chief Justice immediately rose to the zenith of admira- tion.
LOED WOLSELEY ANECDOTES,
An example of Lord Wolseley's consid- eration for his man is recalled in the Manchester Guardian. In the course" of the long, trying action at Mahonta in 1882 he beckoned to one of his staff to ride with him towards the cavalry. Sud- denly ho pulled up, and said: "I can't stand the pain in my leg any more. My confounded bootmaker has made my boot so tight that it is pressing against a but- ton, us in the dark this morning I put my breeches ou crooked. Can you get it right for me?" The staff officer slit the leather, which made the Commander-in- Chief comfortable, and then asked why
BAD LIVERS.
Not only is the Liver the largest but one of the most important organs in the human body, and when deranged it becomes the source of endless suffering. When the Liver is clogged by the inactivity of the kidneys and bowels, it becomes torpid, and fails to filter the bile from the blood, thus producing biliousness and a general impairment of the digestive system. The tongue is coated, the head aches, digestion is imperfect; there is aching of the limbs and back, feelings of fulness, weight and soreness over. the stomach and liver: the eye becomes yellow and jaundiced and the complexion muddy, the urine is scanty and highly coloured, and the bowels irregular, constipation and looseness alternating. There is little use treating the liver separately, as it can never be set right until the kidneys and bowels are made active in removing the waste from the body. It is for this very reason that Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills have always proved so wonderfully successful in curing the most chronic liver complaint, biliousness and complicated ailments of the kidneys, liver, and bowels. They reach the liver as no other remedy does.

IRISH-AMERICAN INFLUENCE. Gratitude and expedieney alike forbid the Administration to be brutal to their Irish-American supporters. Mr. Bryan can hardly but see eye to eye with Mr. Root. Yet at an Irish-American function last night he was constrained to do what Mr. Root as Becretary of State would. never have done. He is reported to have said that the "degradation" of the House of Lords was due to their opposition to Home Rule, and that "the Irish can point to this as one of the greatest achievements in their history, having brought to a virtual end hereditary rule in the British Empire. Within two years the Irish all over the world cau celebrate the freedom of Ireland."
What with the anti-monopolistic Radi- cals of the inland regions, who, if they dislike shipping subsidies, dislike rail- porters, the President is in a very difficult position. Hasty action might well split | the party and render equally hopeless repeal and arbitration. It is very neces- sary for the British public to grasp this, especially in view of the premature ag nouncement which has been made with regard to his intentions. Under the last Administration a strong stand would have saved the situation. Now the best-
