"A Martyr to Malaria."

The revivifying, strength-giving effects of Sanatogen are most remarkable in cases of convalescence after Malaria, Dysentery, Enteric Fever and other exhausting tropical diseases. Here is a case in point :-

Mr. Thomas Lyna, c/o Presidency Fost Master, GP, O., Calcutta, writes:I had been a martyr to Malaria for four years, becom ing weaker and weaker, wit's the natural run- down condition and brain fag, nervousness and Dyspepsia. Sanatogen was strongly recom mended by a friend, and I am delighted to say, that only two bottles have made an extra- ordinary difference for the better nay, for the best. I shall always higlily recoтmezd Sanatogen everywhere I go."

THE HIGHWAYMAN CAPE.

The arrival of the triplo revere apon the dresses and costs of the moment is certain to be followed by the ro-introduction of the highway- man capes, in heavy materials un costa inohff. Год or lace on indoor gowns and blouses. It is a pretty an-i brooming fashion, so long as tho capes are not allowed to become bulky or deep, The revors of the moment is double, triple-or- quadruple, out in deep points and made of con. frating colours. Sometimes the material is Toried-fur over cloth volret, or laor over chiffon over metallic tiesne. A prefty theatre coat, for wear with a plain skirt, is made of old furniture tapastry in stone-colour, with little bouqueta of mass woren in it. It is turned back in revers, which are faced with rose-coloured satin, elight. ly smaller, revers of oxidised silvor. Tull" over these, beneath still smaller ones of heaty cream lace edged with a narrow line of sable.

WINTER APORT CLÁTHING.

Tyrol, Switzerland. and Norway have entered definitely into the yearly programms of the English, since their pawsibilities as winter climate, Anything more delightful than the resorts have made them reftes from the English sensation of being exhilarated instead of de pressed by cold it is difficult to imaging. The visitor to Innsbruck, for instance, learing the warm and confortable hotel, and walking out into four degrees below zero, instead of shrinking into bims and allowing his walk to become sscuttle, Bads himself unaccountably anxious to dance and ring. The air is liko frozen wine, the sloighbells seem to tap against.it, aul upon the encircling mountains a laugh sonude for G.B., M.D., etc., incredible dietances. Winter

Sir Charles A. Cameron,

In fact, I wis better and strenger after this course of Satiat ogen than before the Attack...

"The Malical Times! says:There is no doubt whatever that the mutri- tion of patients taking Sanntogen improves wou derfully, due, in all pro- bability, to its being easy of assimilation and to the organic absorbable phor- phorus which it con- laitis,"

Sir Gilbert Parker, M.P., the popular Novelist, writes: --" 20, Carlton House Terrace, London, S.W.1 have used Sanist ogen with extraonlinary benefit. It is to my ind a true food topic, feel ing the nerves, increasing the energy, and "giving fr.sh vigour to be over. worked texly and wind.

THE KNITTED COSTUME.

Entire tames of köitted wool are the. cosiest wear for skating, tobogganing, and so forth. They consist of cont, skirt, knickers, gaiters, hood, and gloves, all prettily nude, in white or bright colours, and forming a parfect. armour against weather and mishap. In such a costomo a bouler into a snowbank is nothing but a joke. The skirts are of varying longth ski ere like them very short, skaters prefer them to within an inch or two of the ankle. effective pattern is that of the course horring bone; but a sult, effect is achieved by the Apelitch knitting, which is liked by many, The jolly lit le gnome-like toode are in graat demand. They are warmer than the popular round cape, and they suit a Treater number of facor, for a little round op wants's small face, but a hood can be worn by all sizes.

LEATHER AND WATERPROOFED CLOTH.. Leather conte, made of very soft skins, are useful for travelling, motoring, and so forth; they are also admirablo for sports, since they are windproof, and wind is the only thing bich can spoil the exhilaration of a mountain day, in winter. They are more expensive than tho' kuitted costs, but then they do not requira washing, and

they wear louper. They are not pretty, partly because, they are usually worn. akirts of other materials and celours; and a one-colour costums is more annessful than parti-coloured one, even in cities, where they are only seen at close quarters and seldom alone, their success is even more noticeable when the wearer has half the Alps for background. One to small enough in all conscience, in such a setting, without cutting oneself in half into the Dargain! Waterproofed cloth is used forskirts and gailers with great success, and has a very smart appearance, especially in white. ⠀⠀⠀

VULNERABLE POINTS.

The grant thing to remember is that it is casy to cover up one's body on the whole, but that the ebinks are very important. Thus the gloves should come over the sleeves, the gaiter well down over the boots, and, at the knees, well-ap over the knickers. The hood should ut rond the base of the throat, over the top of the sweater;' and its turned-back brim should always be turn- ed forwards in snow or rain or ligh wind; or even in very bright sunlight, unless dark plasses aro wern, for the refraction of the sun on the glitter ing white is very trying. The chinks thas soaled, one may really dread nought; the umbrella may cesto from its opening, and the water- proof rust behind the door; and the stay-at- homas may reproach the sperfora with the faut that they have no conception, what cold is really like. For the sojourners among the hills come back with a shook to the warner country where one has to wear many far before one dare go out. Winter sport takes bublitzla Becount of far.

LEATHER RATS.-

For wear here at home leather bots are much in favour, for the most part embroidered in bright colours, sometimes with course wool darned on net to form fit flowers. These hats are directly dae to the motor inspiration, which bas had such an effect on our clothes. They are for the most part close-fitting, and are copied from Dutch as, Breton headdress (with its graceful and warm habits at side and back) or Russian bonnets. When they are very soft, these hats are becoming, especially when they have the velvet finish, Their colours sra good, and embroidery shows wall on them. They stay comfortably on the head, too, which is a con sideration in a winter which bids fair to make a record in cales, and those teasing winds which Beeza to wait round corners for the sole purpose of getting under a hat-brim and trying to use it. analerer for testing out all the wearer's hair. Crêpe de chins hats, very full and soft, monated on firm foundations, and encrusted with ona. broideries, are the correct wear with the crêpe costumes of the moment; but for mostly goes wila velvet..

POCKET AT LAST,

Blouses are still very simple in, shape, but they are being trimmed in various new ways, Deep necklaces" of painted fowers adorn some, while in others appear bands of ribbon threaded through the material horizontally, half-way to the waist, and finished with how

of the ribbon placed slightly to the left. A pooket on the same side is a feature of meny of the blousen, a sensible freak of fashion that everyone will welcome, although, of course, it is only large enough to hold the tiniest of dainty hundkerchie A chiffon blouse, with a collar of oxidised Jane, masy have this packet matte fa the same lacs as the collar. As a rule the pocket is in the same material and outlined with the same trimming as the rest of the garment. This has led to 122 odd. Bittle ornamentation on pocketless blouses a little. alearing of verbroidery just me here arab pocket" would be only it were there; a fimming neither pretty nor sensible. Buttons, large or small, and with or without braiding around them, form the sale trimming of many & blouse and morning gown, being placed on the latter, from throat to toe at regular intervals down the front, af both bodice sad skirt.-X.
