A BALLOON ADVENTURE.

Only the wonderful presence of mind and adwirable bravery of M. L'on Lair-the pilot of the captive balloon which has met with sach a perilous adventure outside Paris-saved the lives of the nine occuparts of the car. The balloon in itsascert was caught by a tremendous gust of wind, snatching it from the cable; a the balloon was ascending still higher and higher, the pilot requested everyone to climb. into the netting while he sub open the balloon. and caused it to come down at great speed. It had some nurrow escapes in the storm. and finally fell in a garden, where nexistance was soon on the spot. No one was hurt, though terribly shaken. The pelot has been re commended for the Legion of Honour which he has so well deserved.
