Miss Tam was called to the bar in the U.K. in

1971 and in HK in 1972. She was elected to the Urban Council in 1979, and under the new District Administration scheme she became the elected District Board Member for

Central and Western District in 1983. She was appointed

public service goes far beyond this, however, and she is also a member of the Housing Authority, the Transport Advisory Committee, the Action Committee Against Narcotics, the Board of Education, the Hong Kong Council of Social Services and the Council of the Chinese

University.

Mr WONG Wan-tin, MBE, JP

Mr Wong has been actively involved in the promot- ion of traditional religions in HK. Under his leadership, the HK Buddhist Association the largest traditional religious organisation in HK, has made much progress in the provision of educational, medical and religious services including the HK Buddhist Hospital, a number of primary and secondary schools, nurseries and homes for the elderly. He is also a member of the Council of the United College, Chinese University of HK and a committee member of seven other benevolent associations including Lok Sin Tong, Pok O Hospital, the Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts and the Board of Education.

Mr William TURNBULL, JP

In 1980 Mr Turnbull agreed at the then Governor's request to organise the Commonwealth Law Conference which was held in HK in Sept. 1983. The undoubted success of the Conference owed much to his enthusiasm, drive and personal efforts. He has been active in community work by serving on a number of Boards and Committees, parti- cularly as one of the Governor's Appointees to the General Committee of the Federation of HK Industries.
