US Position In Korea Truce Talks
Sounding Out Allies On New Move In U.N.
Washington, Oct. 9.
Authoritative sources said today that high American officials were resigned to the possibility of a long stalemate in the Korean truce negotia- tions.
They still hope that the Chinese and Korean Reds will accept the last United Nations proposals for prisoner repatriation but have no real belief that the Communists will do so.

They interpreted the comments of Mr Dean Acheson, the United States Secretary of State, on the subject, to indicate that the American Government wanted to lay down the basic position that it desired """humanitarian" solution to the prisoner exchange problem and was not prepared to compromise even if such a compromise could lead to the end of fighting.
