HONGKONG'S BEST PROVE TOO GOOD FOR VIETNAM'S TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONS By "ARGONAUT""
Further proof of Hongkong's ability to stay among the world's best at table tennis was given yesterday to a capacity crowd at Southern Playground when the Colony stars routed the world seventh-ranking Vietnam team by five games to one.
This was the second defeat sustained by the visitors out of their three matches in Hongkong. In the opening match they edged out third ranking Chi Chun by 5-4, but went down by 3-5 to the local champions, Wing San, in the second match.
They leave for Macao today and are expected to be back in the Colony on July 5 before returning to Vietnam.

McCarthy's Bowling Action
Mr Sid Pegler, the South African manager, was diplomatically silent when I asked him for his reaction to suggestions that the bowling action of Cuan McCarthy (four for 76 in the Second Test) is open to question.
I think it is, but since our own professional umpires in two Test matches and a variety of county games have pass ed his action as lawful it is little use querying it now. Indeed, we should lay ourselves open to the grave charges of "squealing" after defeat if we did so. If Frank Chester and company pass him, criticism from others is disarmed.
