MEASURE RAIN
By Julia W, Wolfe
LAST summer when New
York City had no water for its hands, but plenty of water worries on its mind, the Boys Club of America decided to make a rain gauge. You can easily make one and the material for one can be obtained with-i out difficulty.
Your materials are:
A tin can with straight sides. Beveral strips of wood about; an inch wide,
An aluminium or tin funnel with the top the same diameter of the can (not smaller).
A glass gauge tube with a fight cork for the can.
A Jelly jar or jelly class' with a tin cover.
A triangular wooden block one inch thick and 6 inches on cach side,
A piece of ́olled paper to place
in the bottom of the Jelly fur for the glass tube to reat on.
Some string to tie around the strips.
