MANPOWER BILL PASSES SENATE

The deputies of the North Atlantic Treaty Powers today got down to detailed discussion of how to increase and speed up the defence pro- gramme of the North Atlantic arco. At a three-hour session, the 12 deputies, meeting under the chairmanship of Mr. Charles Spof- ford, the United States delegate, exchanged ideas on the acceleration of joint defence plans already agreed to by the members of the Atlantic Union.

It was understood that, for the moment, there is no quez- tion of revising the plans but merely of translating them as. quickly as possible into fact.
