Two refugee soldiers of the Nationalist Army who brought along arms and ammunition with them when they fled here from China pleaded guilty to their possession, on arraign ment yesterday at the Criminal Sessions.

A large cannon believed to be more than 60 years old was 'un- earthed at an abandoned fort near the junction of Halton, Con- duit and Kòlewall Roads recently. The cannon was discovered by workmen while, levelling a clto for the new University building. A relic of the Victorian Era, the 261⁄2 feet long can- noh weighs several tons. The object is to provide a resort where residents of all riationalities and races, may meet on a basis of common 'social interest without no- tional or racial discrimination. It is proposed to raise funds for the infor pårt of the initial cost by the issue of debentures and

Milne's appeal against conviction dismissed

Andrew Milne, 23-year-old RASC driver, who was given four years and nine months on January 13 for taping the wife of an earth coolie, brought an appeal before the Full Court of Appeal yesterday.
