Rules Of Golf Committee Produce Their New Code
(By HENRY LONGHURST) After a year or two of meditation, the Rules of Golf Committee, headed by Bernard Darwin, whose writings will live as long as the game itself, produced their new code at the R. and A. business meeting. Here, despite a certain amount of pamphleteering by a dissentient member, it was passed by a vast majority. It comes into force on New Year's Day and will apply in almost every country in the world. except the United States. Everyone will lift his hat to the Rules of Golf Committee for one thing. They have set out the rules in a manner and. with one exception, in words which any fool can under- stand.
Match and stroke play rules are now grouped together, and the section headlines are admir- ably clear.
