Paris, To-day. FRENCH AIRMEN WHO HAVE just returned from bomb- ing the German lines told how they helped to put some of 400 German tanks out of action, wires Reuter's cor- respondent with the French Army.

"Using new American planes, which are excellent, we are able to bomb the Nazi tank columns most effectively," said a young lieutenant.

“The German anti-aircraft defence is very much less effec- tive than when we bombed enemy troops after the May 14 offensive.

NEW SCHEDULE FOR RESERVED OCCUPATIONS

INTENSE ACTIVITY AT ABBEVILLE

London, To-day.

Columns of armoured fighting vehicles and supply lorries which had been re- ported by reconnaissance air- craft to be massing near Ab- beville, were attacked during the heavy RAF. raids early yesterday morning.

Over a ton of heavy bombs and a large quantity of smaller bombs were dropped during the 10-minute raid carried out at a low level.

Two bombers were attacked by three Messerschmidt-109's. Fighting the enemy off with their rear guns, the 'planes spiraled down almost to the ground, and in the 20-minute running fight which ensued, one Messerschmidt caught a nasty burst at close range and when last seen appeared to have been badly damaged.

In the afternoon, roads and bridges were attacked by - medium bombers. Breaking up into sections, the 'planes attacked their objectives in shallow 'dives.
