GERMAN PLAN FOR HUGE TANNENBERG DEMONSTRATION

Berlin, To-day. Details of a huge demonstration which is to be held at the Tannen- berg Memorial in East Prussia on August 27 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the victory of Tan- nenberg, were made known last evening.

The Fuehrer will be present and will address the gathering which will include 40,000 war veterans who participated in the battle.

The event falls on a Sunday. In the forenoon, 2,000 standard bear ers will line up in front of the memorial for the wreath-laying ceremony. Honours will then be conferred on officers and regiments of the German army for disting guished services.

The gigantic demonstration will: take place at about noon and will be followed by a parade in which all the Services, including the air. force, will take part.

Questioned about the Honan coal-mines, the spokesman stated that it was inaccurate to speak of "seizure” in this connection.

The mines were owned by Chin- ese who had bought the equipment from the British against a mort- gage!

When, at the beginning of the hostilities, the Chinese owners fled, the British took over the mines, foreclosed the mortgage without legal authority, and pro- ceeded to operate the mines themselves!
