U.S. BASEBALL RESULTS

New York, To-day.

The only surprise in yesterday's American Baseball League prò- gramme was the defeat of the World Series

winners, the

New

York Yankees, at the hands of the Senators, who nosed out a victory. by 3 to 2, Simmons clouting a home

run.

High scoring featured the clash between the Red Sox and the Ath- letics, the former scoring 11 runs to which the latter replied with five including a homer from John- son.

Blank-outs prevailed in the Na- tional League and “Dizzy" Dean heralded his entry by holding the Reds while the Cardinals won by a margin of two runs.

Blanton was also in fine form from the mound, for the Pirates, blanking the Cubs.
