That is how. I would consider my daughter's marriage to-day if I were faced with such a problem.
I have lived long enough to see great changes in the world, to see how poor young men become rich ones and apparent fools become clever. It is a world of inconsis tencies:

Now that is all changed: This sea- son it will be anything but, smart to keep one's tan when the holidays are over.
The well-dressed woman, with her all-seeing eye already on the new Cautumn colours, has réalised in
flash that the combination of a tap- ned skin with plum or violet, or one of the new "sad" greens is too un- attractive to contemplate. Neither will brown, athletic. hands accord harmoniously with the romante movement that is starred in the autumn collections".
In the country, where a sports: make-up is permissible, it is easy to achieve a light tan with cosmetics. Two powders can be used: a deep rachel with a top-coating of bronze ever a powder foundation in one of those warm dusty-pink shades.
But when the day is done, this make-up is discarded together with tweeds and brogues.

Rather more drastic treatment can be given the hands and arms, and for these, after a preliminary softening and cleansing with cleanse ing cream or almond oil, nothing is better than a reliable bleaching cream that can be left, on all night.

Do your stockings have that ea- dearing little habit of springing a run at the most inauspicious mo ments? Some thoughtful widgit- maker has had just such ones as you in mind, for there is now on the market -Run-R-Stop" — a friendly gadget that does exactly what it says, and sells for the microsopic sum of 15 cents U.S.

are probably aware that washing new stockings before you wear them seals them in some way we don't pretend to understand but are you washing them out? It does help prevent snags, and in- creases longevity. The young per sen on the rig in't fazed a bit by one of life's embarrassing mo- ments. One very lovely powder-box for a dressing-table is finished in a deli- cate green lacquer with chromium handles.
