ARMY DEFEAT CLUB IN TWO EVENTS.
WEALTH INVESTED IN SPORT.
Britain's Output During A Year.
20 MILLIONS WASTED.
Great Britain spends 60 millions a year on sport, excluding racing. And of this, says an authority, at least 20 millions is unnecessary ex- penditure.
"This," he says, "is because all the implements of sport, like golf clubs and lawn tennis rackets, are far too dear, and club subscriptions are far too high.
"There is also a snobbery in
sport which demands special clothes and special tips.
"Incidental

"The cost of golf and tennis is becoming greater every year.
"The best lawn tennis rackets were sold in 1914 for £1 10s. They are sold to-day for £3 15s.-an in- crease of more than 10 per cent.
