MAGISTRATE ON MARRIAGE.

Main Danger Is False Pride.

SAGE ADVICE.

Marriage is what you make it, says Mr. J. A. R. Cairns, the wise and very human London Metro politan Police Court Magistrata. There is nothing, more modern about about marriage than mathematics. Twice one are two Here is a subject that has to mented mankind since Eden.

or

To those who contemplate complain about marriage I always put one question: "What do you want out of marriago?"

What do you want out of mar- riage? Happiness, you say: Then How another question arises:

much are you prepared to put into marriage in order to get happiness out of it? What will you give?

Each has hartered freedom. Camouflage it as you like, personal freedom is gone. The right to self-pleasing is gone. Every baby cuts off 1 new slice. It is no longer "What shall I do?"; it la "What shall we do?"

Marriage restricts the range of friendships and intimacies. The first demand is one of unequivocal loyalty. That is foundational, and it must be mutual.
