Guards Prevent Big Jail Break..

A reports of a sensational jail- break in Santa Cruz, Laguna, in which two of several prisoners in the provincial jall were able to stage a get-away. were received last evening, constabulary head- quartars issued alarms to provin cial commanders throughout the Philippine for a nation-wide man. hunt in an effort to capture six dangerous criminals who have escaped from various prisons dur ing the past month.

The most sensational of these jailbreaks yet known was reported yesterday to headquarters by the

Both the escaped eonvicts were serving long terms and were being held in jail in Santa Cruz pre- paratory to their being sent to Bilibid.

The constabulary are still on the trail of Pedro Casapao, jallbreak artist, who staged his second escape from jafi in Tarlac, Tarlac, early on the morning of June 11 by sawing off two iron bars in his cell, which was about 16 feet; from the ground. While it is generally believed that Palawano Majilon, allas Makilan, 60-year old baby-killer, met his death when he jumped over board while the s.s. Don Juan O was on her way to Manila on the night of June 16, nevertheless, headquarters yesterday issued an alarm for his capture.

Another Palawan jailbreak artist being sought by the insular police is Santiago Rubi who, on the night of June 24, escaped from fail in Puerto Princesa. Rubi, according to a report sent by the provincial commander of Palawan, escaped. through the washroom of the jail.

The aid of the Manila police has been sought in the hunt for Ful- gencio Terro, notorious criminal of Rizal, who calmly walked away from his guard after sawing off a bar in his cell in the jail at Pasay on the morning of June 6. The first reports on the whereabouts of Terro after his escape said he was hiding in Antipolo. A constabn- lary patrol was immediately sent, to that town, but the soldiers re- turned without the escaped convict.
