WOMEN'S SECTION

Being tidy-minded, I am never led into sloppy ways, so I can con demn those that are! I think than mental sloppiness in worse sloppy ways. No one, I contend, is immune from the former In sidious fault.

By sloppy ways" i mean a lack of method. There are people who And it easier to have a place for everything, and to put everything in its place. Of these I am one. I cannot understand why some people prefer to have a drawer which, when opened, shows medley of stockings, ribbons, hand- kerchiefs and gloves! I do under- stand the old maid with her lists, her neat piles of clothes, and her labels for all her keys!

Д

The sloppiness of 'mind, though, which leads to mental cowardice, Is what I plead guilty to and would give the world to cure.

Moral Cowardice

I contend moral cowardice is due to mental stoppiness and the inability to pull one's self together and face lengthy explanations and expostulations.

Let us look at some of the com mon untruths this mental weak. ness leads to.

We are all taught as children to be truthful and at the same time to avoid hurting people's feelings, but there are few of ur who do not descend to the deepest in- trigue in order to carry out this. last injunction.

I have frequently been asked to eat some dish I dislike in order "not to hurt the cook's feelings." I have fed the dogs, or buried my helping of the dish for the self- same reason. I have had a special' dish termed "my favourite" and I have been too mentally sloppy to break down the myth and declare my hatred of it! I have praised a pudding and been condemned to

"Women with bony backs often suffer from open pores as well.

"Special massage with hot oil is given to feed the tissues, but much of the treatment is done at home. A flattening cream is recommend- ed to be rubbed into the back every night. Pine baths are also an in- portant item in home treatment.

Feigning Enjoyment

Mental sloppiness has again led me to put my share of the pud- ding in an envelope and drop it in the street later on sooner than to face my cook and say, "I am tired of that excellent pudding and do not want to see it again!"

Another fear is to confess one's "A powder made from an extract disilke of a special "trest." Some- of Marienbad pine-trees is added times one is taken to a play and would far rather go and to the bath-water. As it opens the one

The New Walk

It looks much as if women will have to change their walk when they change their dress (since we are still to wear short tailor-mades and sport skirts.

Although coddling is undesirable, reasonable .care ahould be taken to ensure freedom from draughts and damp, especially in the winter. Dogs are more resistant to" cold and changes, of climate than we are, and it would not be wholesome for them to live always in a uniform temperature.

Dogs are not always the best judges of what is good for them. We see them, often getting over- heated by lying in front of a fire, throw themselves down close to a door under which an icy current is constantly flowing. During the night, when fires have died down, they feel anything of the sort more acutely, and it is ad- visable to ascertain for yourself if the sleeping box or basket is ex- posed to draughts.
