Lucky Young French Girl

A little French girl, aged 13, has hecome the proud possessor of an eroplane as the result of her success in a competition organised by an important Paris newspaper. The competition was one in which it was required to give times of flight of aeroplanes over a given distance, and the little Parisian's answer was the only correct one. la addition to an aeroplane worth 50,000 francs she also wins a money prize of 100,000 francs. Palace Burglary.

Last year on the anniversary of the ruthbal al the Great War over twenty countries, including over a hundred towns in Britain, heli demonstrations under the title "No More Wer. The Edinburgh de monstration took place on Sunday, 290 July, and the in losgow in The 5th Augest. The hon, seeretury was Mr. RS. Jeffroy, 53 George IV.

Thieves climbed on to the Bridg. Edinburgh, and the focal balcony of the palace of Willian szeretary, Mr. George H. Then, in Unter Der Linden in broad son, 17 Strukyre Street, Shaw-| daylight, forced their way into the Jands, Cilasgow.

Representatives of the Hohen- zollern family are drawing up a Fist of the stalen goods, which it is supposed will be sent abroad. Their sale in Germany would be difficult, as most of the objects are marked with the Imperial Crown.

The Obsequies Of Burns.

(As described in a contemporary Newspaper.)

ly impressed the guests by her dignity and charm. Ladies have naturally a keen eye for the dress! of royalty, and it used to be a com- man remark that the only daughter of the Queen did not always show off to advantage her natural charms. This reproach has been removed. Perhaps mothers-even royal mothers are not always the best arbiters of what shall and shall not be worn by their daughters. The upbringing of the Princess was a mimcle of correctness. Now that the Princess Mary is wife and mistress of her own home, she is able to allow her individuality to express itself more freely, with the altogether charming result in- dicated.

New Police Regulations.

The new police regulations, says Overseas, recently promulgated have caused u considerable amount of discussion; in them, all ranks of the police force in uniform are instructed to salute members of the Royal Family, Cabinet Ministers, Colours carried procession, and commissioned officers in uniformi. These new regulations are the result of the incident which took place in Pic- cadilly a few weeks since, when an officer in the Household Cavalry struck a policeman on point duty with the flat of his. sword for not saluting the Colours.

Public opinion is by no means universally in favour of the new regulations, and the Daily Graphic expresses what many people. have been feeling when it states that they have an 'un-English idlom about them, while the Sunday Times thinks that the one decisive objection to them is that they tend to militarise a force that is essentially civilian, and by so do ing to remove it one degree from the normal life and habits of the people."

-Saluting the Colours, like taking off one's hat when the National Anthem is played, is a matter which we should be able to loave to the good tiste of the individual. We do not wapt Prussianism" introduced Into this country.
