The 16th annual harbour race for men, held under the auspices of the Victoria Recreation lab, took plare yesterday afternoon, in a rather shoppy and cold sea. The race prov ed to be one of the most keenly coa- tosted seep for many a year. The exciting finish between Lyon, Laing
and Johnstons was a "touch and go" affair, and the result was in doubt

Lyon finished 11 seconds in front of Laing, in the good time of 26 mins. 47 Rers, better than the time in which Johnstone won the rice 30 comfortably last year. The record is still held by J. C. Finch who covered the distance 22 mins. 26 secs, in 1913. He also roade the second bist time of 23 mins. 21 atc., in 1916.
